Laptop temps question

Go to solution Solved by Helpful Tech Witch,

It’s fine. Laptops run hot, it’s what they do.

unless it’s pushing over 100cits going to be fine

I have an 8 year old laptop that when I bought new was used for architectural modelling and rendering. It is now quite outdated even for gaming. I now plan on using it to host a minecraft server. However, at idle, temps sometimes spike to 77c, but hover around 48-55 usually. Room temp in the summer right now is at 24-27c. I'm not sure what I can do to keep the temps down when I do get the server up and running. Suggestions?

TIA.

Specs:

Cpu: Intel i5-3230M

Gpu: Geforce GT 740M

Ram: 12 GB DDR3 1600MHz

HP Envy 17" Laptop
