Issue with RAM speed

DDR stands for double data rate. 1600 is half of 3200, 1600mhz is the “correct” speed of your RAM and is what apps will report with.

It's a common confusion. No need to feel stupid. It would be better if manufacturers would actually list it as "1600MHz - 3200 MT/s", but that would actually probably confuse people more at this point, since they're used to seeing 3000MHz+ on the box.
