Hope this is in the right section.

I play games via Xbox controller or keyboard and mouse. On first person shooters it tells you what button or key to press which is fab.

I've been looking for a decent force feedback steering wheel on local classifieds and most of them are for ps but will work on pc apparently. Google suggests the same. With a bit of trickery of course

I wonder if a playstation peripheral will confuse the pc or is there a clever way of getting the computer to recognise a ps input and display controls accordingly?

Thanks

The on screen prompts are not specific to Xbox controllers. Controllers, in general, use the ABXY scheme, and Xbox does as well. This goes all the way back to the Sega days. PlayStation went the odd ball route with their shapes.

In other words, this isn't based on what kind of controller you plug in. It's a scheme that covers the majority of controllers used on PC, and you just have to map PS controls to that, if you want to use a PS controller.
