Hi all,

This is for a kind of no so build but close to be. We all know PC gaming in summer can be a pain in terms of heat generation. There is an office (in the basement) right under my bedroom and I was thinking that I could put my PC in the office (wich is much cooler), drill a hole in the floor and pass the wires back up to my room. I just don't know what I'd need to do so properly, how to do it and if it's even doable. I was thinking about some sort of a docking station that coube act as a "in between PC" for USB stuff and others. I will list my PC specs and other peripherals I have.

PC :

Ryzen 5 5600X

EVGA RTX 2070 Super

Gigabyte B550 Pro (V1.0)

M.2 SSD and other stuff

Peripherals :

Monitor 1 Gigabyte G27Q (1440p @ 144hz) (supports both DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0)

Monitor 2 : Asus VZ279 (1080p @ 60hz) (probably is HDM 1.0)

Many USB devices (Mouse, keyboard, headphones, Xbox controller, desk fan and stuff)

If you guys have any idea on how this could be done with as little loss of performance i'd love to get your input.

Thanks all.

If the total cable distance is in the 10-15' range?  You can do it with just cables / extensions.

A 15' HDMI / Displayport is easy.
You can extend USB to 10-15', or just get a USB 3 hub/dock on your desk, and plug things into that.  (A good USB Hub would be the easiest solution for a bunch of USB devices.  Or Two, if you have two USB controllers.)

If you're going much past 15' things get more complicated.  It is doable, just a LOT less easy, and more expensive.

Ok I see. From my very accurate eye mesurements it would bet a max 15 feet. I was mostly worried about quality loss over long distances in cables. And for the USB hub that was my bet at first. And those hubs, do they just plug in the motherboard's USB ports and kinda duplicates it for you? I've never own any of those so I don't really know how they work and what to expect. If you have any recommendations I'd be happy to use em.

Thanks a lot
