No, it'll work fine. The BIOS takes care of the most basic operations and system monitoring of your PC. The most common cause for anyone to really "need" to update their firmware is when they're putting a newer CPU into an older motherboard that supports it, but hasn't yet been updated. Other times some features will come out that you may want if you're more of an enthusiast.

Should you ever decide to update the BIOS in the future, make sure you're not in a situation where the power can go out. You will brick your system.

Do I need to upgrade my mobo bios

No, because pcie devices most of the time identifies themselves, BIOS only handles how itll function in the software wise.

I have a bigger fish to fry though, why are ya pairing 2400G with a 3060? If youre going to upgrade the CPU, then i would recommend a BIOS update as youll need latest bios for 5000 series support.

does pcie 4.0 auto enable with a 3060 installed?

B450 only have 3.0, youll need B550 for 4.0 support. But besides, even GPU for now still doesnt get super affected from the bandwith disadvantage.

The reason why im pairing a 2400g with a 3060 is because the 2400g is from my old build, so im using that bc i cant afford a gpu and cpu in the same month. next month I plan to buy a new cpu, probably a 3600xt

It doesnt. The left side is what Pcie generation and lanes it can run at, the right side says what it actually run at.
