After 3 months of originally purchasing;

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 Desktop Memory – Black

I can still refund it, and purchase

Viper Steel DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 4000MHz Performance Memory Kit - PVS416G400C9K

(I'll be purchasing 2 of these)

And it'll only cost me an extra £20

So i'll go from 2 x 16 GB DDR4 3600 CL18 > 4 x 8 GB DDR4 4000 CL16 (if I'm not mistaken) for + £20

Specs it's partnered with;

B550-F Gaming Wifi

5600x

Thoughts?

Cl18 cause you couldnt afford cl16 (rgb) or just not available i assume.

Ddr4 4000 might be a pain in the ass so stick to 3600 and just raise the ram volt to like 1.4 or 1.5 and just lower the timings

I think I purchased the C18 because there was no good stock on Amazon a few months ago, I don't care about LED what so ever.

How come DDR4 4000 could be a pain?

I'm not the most tech-savvy so lowering timings etc isn't really for me 😞

Can you get the infinity fabric to clock high enough to gain all the benefits of?  Also, it may just not run at that speed.

I guess you can buy it, try it, and keep the set that works best.

Lets say hypothetically the 4000 MHZ will only run at 3600 (if that's a thing)

Atleast it'll be CL16 not CL18 - would that alone warrant an additional £20 in your eyes

No.  The time and energy to return the old set would negate any slim gains from a couple CL change.

It's just not impactful.  Now if you want to SAY you have 4000MHz RAM it may be worth it... people do things for bragging more than performance 🙂

A 3600mhz cl16 kit is the ideal for the 5600x or for the Zen 3 in general maybe higher ram frequency could hart your machine instead of gain benefit

How about 4x8 vs 2x16

In 4x8 is better with amd it will give you up to 15% performance according to gamers nexus but also you will pay more and a 16gig(2x8) is enough for everything
