You can buy one for $150 right now on eBay.

 

You're unlikely to do much better because in spite of being obsolete and outperformed by current mainstream chips, the 5960X carries a price premium by virtue of being a a HEDT platform i7.

Hi there, does anyone know where i'd get a cheap-ish Core i7 5960x?

I have looked on aliexpress, but should i buy them from there?

higher end chips like that are almost never 'cheap'

 

You can try Ali, but only spend as much $ as you're willing to throw out the window.  Cuz there's 0 guarantee you'll get what you buy.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
