Suggestions, please!

Go to solution Solved by tkitch,

For air, Noctua NH15D.  You've got the clearance.  The U12S is a cheaper option, but not quite as good (but still really good)

How much RAM you got?  What speed?

Budget (including currency): 200 CAD wish 250 CAD maximum. Lower always welcome =)

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and streaming.

Other details I am looking to upgrade my machine in order to get it ready to run BF2042 with 120fps + at 1440p monitor goes up to 165fps

My current config is

  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB GAMING OC
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor with stock cooler.
  • TX550M 80+ Gold Semi-Modular
  • Gigabyte X570 UD ATX AM4

My Planning is to overclock the CPU and the GPU, therefore I am looking for buy the G5 Series 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply from EVGA. (About 110 CAD on sale now)
Can you guys help with suggestions for good and fan/cooler for the CPU overclocking? My case is Corsair SPEC-06 ATX Mid Tower Case with air flow improved already.

PS: I will get a 4k60 Mk.2 in the feature, but not now. =)

Thanks

Noctua NH-D15, about 120 Canadian dollars.

It will fit in your case, and it's simply a great performing, quiet air cooler. Majorly overkill for overclocking a Ryzen 5 3600, but if you want the best you can have for your $... that's the answer. You can get a Corsair H100i for around the same dollar, but it will be louder, less reliable, and perform about the same, if not giving an edge to the D15. You purchase a $100 AIO with your heart, not your head.

The fan would be more important than the power supply. I've got a 550W Bronze one and I can overclock my 9600k and 2060 Super just fine.

For a 3600, a basic tower cooler would do you well. That was all it took to let me OC my CPU without it getting too hot. I can do 4.8GHz all core and basically never break 70C.

Okay, that's solid.  Upping the speed won't get you much more.  (Assuming XMP is enabled, etc.)

Yes it is. I enabled recently and looks like by default it was 2333mhz. I didn't understand why, I was assuming that memory should run at full speed by default.
