Random FPS Issues

bambrew

I recently built a new pc with these specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT

GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3070

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.black

Motherboard: ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4

RAM: Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-4400

CASE: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Adata XPG Core reaction 850 W gold

SSD: 1TB

Fans: 2 corsair ICUE QL120

When I first booted up my computer it felt great and extremely fast. The two primary games I have been playing are Valorant and Rust, and I was getting around 250-300 average fps in Valorant and 110-120 fps in Rust, with 99% drops around 250ish in Valorant and 105ish in Rust. I have no idea if that is good for my specs, but that is what I have noticed is my average "normal" fps. I have now used the computer for about a week now and have noticed I have been getting random drops in my fps which seem to randomly fix themselves no matter if I restart my pc or the game I am playing. I will load up a game to play after I turn on my pc and sometimes the game will be at about 25-50% drop in frame rate for many hours no matter if I restart my game or pc. This drop in fps is also completely consistent, where it seems to just lower my average fps by 25-50% for the entire duration of how long I play, but can also seemingly fix itself out of nowhere. For example, I was playing a rust session and for the first 6ish hours I had 60-70 fps average, but then I randomly went up to 110-120. This also happens in reverse where I will start out after booting my pc up having good fps and it dropping randomly after a couple hours of play. I have no idea why this is happening and when I check my CPU and GPU in task manager, both seem to be running at around 20% in both scenarios, but I think my GPU usage might go up a bit when my fps is normal and not dropped. Also, my load up times are extremely fast for games, browsers, boot up times, etc. The drop in performance I notice is only seemingly related to my fps. Any suggestions on why this is happening or what could be a potential fix would be great. Thanks!
