Maxwell GPUs Delayed - Bad Rumor

For the ones who heard is an old news but for the ones who will read this for first time, a bad news for them, sorry...

 

The Swedish website Sweclockers.com has posted a report for a potential delay of the 20nm Maxwell GPUs, since TSMC is not yet ready for production. According to this report, we might see the first cards in late 2014, but the actually lineup will most probably come in Q1 2015.

Even if Nvidia puts the Maxwell architecture on the old 28nm GPU chips, we will not see the full potential performance of the new gen GPUs.

 

Unfortunately the report has been published on 31st March, and therefore it's not an "April Fools" joke...  I was hoping to be when I read the report...

 

I guess that means another delay for my PC build...oh well 6 months with no PC isn't a problem for me to wait...

Well unfortunately, whatever GPU i buy, it won't got well on my current rig - my CPU is actually 5 years old so... I don't really wanna put a Kepler GPU on a Core2 Quad CPU... I am anyway gonna give this rig to a friend this summer so i will be without any PC for 6 months until I build my new rig.

I heard this too, but before april 1st and I'm really sad too, but I hope it's gonna be worth the wait

Oh well, hope so too. 6 months with a Apple tablet...gonna be an interesting experience, but what can I do? Matching Haswell-E and Maxwell is one top priority for my build...no other way...need to wait

No but seriously, I expected this honestly. Tis life. I had heard the Apple chips that TSMC were making are actually ahead of schedule, so I doubted this would happen for a bit too, but I guess those aren't the same things. (SoC CPU VS GPU).
