I found an old external HD, at least 15 years old, plugged it in to see what was in it, after a long time waiting it showed up. I tried to open a folder, is froze and after some time my entire PC froze... After waiting for a bit, I rebooted it and the PC didn't post... I unplugged the external HD and still no post. Motherboard was having problems with DRAM, after a little panic attack, I removed one RAM stick and the PC posted normally, put the stick back and it was ok like nothing happend.

I have this PC for about and year, the MoBo is an ASUS TUF Gaming X570 PLUS and the RAM is a Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB, I enable AMP but didn't overclock, I thing it's running at 3000MHz.

I'm trying to figure out what caused this issue, but I have no clue. Any ideia of the cause? Can it happend again at random? It's safe to try this external HD again?

Thanks a lot!

Nope, only files. When I was forced to restart, I thought that it might have tried to restar from the external HD, but it would get me into the BIOS only... When everything broke I thought I have bricked my MoBo somehow due to something along this lines. But since everything worked out eventually, I'm clueless... But happy and relieved hehe
