Hi all,

currently I am building my new computer in a Mac Pro first generation.

I would like to reuse the power button and the indicator LED in the front, however, I am not very knowledgable in the realm of circuitry.

Attached is a photo of the connector. From my testing with a multimeter, B and W are attached to the LED (in the diode testing mode, with the black probe on B an the red on W, the LED gives off a small amount of light), whereas pushing the power button opens the loop between R and B.

My question now is: Can I attach two cables to the lead coming off of B and use them as "common ground" for the front panel connectors PLED- and PW- (Power LED and Power switch)?

What's the worst that could happen? Do I need/Is it enough to make sure that PLED- and PW- on my motherboard are both ground (i.e. have an open loop when testing with the multimeter)?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Smile
