Hey guys!

I'm planning on upgrading the hardware on my laptop and I'm a little confused as to how to go about it. I have an Asus Vivobook X512DA running an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U 2.1 GHz (4M Cache, up to 3.7 GHz, 4 cores) with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, 8 GB DDR4 Ram (5.9 usable, 2.1 reserved) and 500 GB of storage off a Samsung 870 EVO SATA SSD. It works great for my regular college work but I do face FPS drops whenever I try to run games on it, even on low settings. I'm considering upgrading the RAM on it but here's the problem. Asus has soldered on 4 Gb of Ram leaving me with only one upgradable SODIMM slot. Considering that Ryzen (as far as I know) runs on dual-channel, would it be advisable for me to replace the 4 GB stick with an 8GB stick, therefore, making the total installed RAM 12GB but possibly running on single channel. What else can I do to increase my laptop performance in gaming?

Please let me know what I can do!

Install cpu-z on the laptop. Open it and hit the SPD tab. Find memory that is the same size and timing set for best compatibility. GL!

I did and I've attached the screenshots below. My ram is listed as 2400Mhz on Task Manager but is only clocking 1200 Mhz according to CPUz. CPU Z also doesn't detect the memory installed in slot 2.  Also I don't understand too much of what CPU Z is showing me so what would you suggest I do?

Here's the stick you should match it with.
