So my iphone 7 had some software issues, it got stuck in a bootloop, and when I try to restore it through iTunes I get the error code 9, which is allegedly a USB issue, I tried multiple different cables and bought a brand new apple one from the store and still nothing, I tried the usb C port, USB A 3.1, 3.0, and 2.0, and nothing works, any ideas?

Sounds like the kind of thing the Genius Bar is actually good at.  Look for someone older to ask the question of.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

What software issue were you experiencing prior to this issue?

There are a few errors that in my experience (working for an Apple Authorized service provider) are generally, "This is not a good error to get" errors. This is one of them. When it says USB issue, this could also be on the phone's end, not just the USB cable/port. iPhone 7 in particular is known for more than a few hardware problems one of which may result in this sort of bootlooping. More than likely this is a hardware issue that's going to be expensive to fix (Apple will only replace the whole unit for stuff like this) unless you can find a shop who can do board level repairs.

The thing about phone pcbs is they tend to be real encrusted with parts on both sides of the board. They’re not always super fixable in general.  Might be depending on what it is.  It’s not impossible that the Apple store is the best option.  Also might not be though.

At an Apple store? They wouldn't repair it, they would replace the phone. Apple doesn't do board replacements out of warranty (and would have to be a mail in if it were) and they don't do board level repairs at all. When I used to work for Best Buy (it's been about 7 months) , iPhone 7 Whole Unit replacement was $319.00 +tax. If you need the data or some such where you would want to try and repair this phone, you can look into third party repair. Otherwise I'd say it's new phone time.
