High gpu usage when tabbed into games

Hello!

I started experiencing some problems with my gpu (Rx 580) a few days ago.

Whenever I have my game open on my screen my gpu usage would go to 100%, and when it reaches 100% the whole screen would flicker once which would cause a lagspike in game, than the gpu usage will go down for a few seconds and the same thing would just repeat.

But if I simply minimize the game or tab out of it my gpu usage instantly drops.

On games like roblox, minecraft, r6s, valorant... a flicker would happen every ~10-30 seconds, but on games like apex legends my screen would just be constantly flickering when I join an actual game, not as much in the main lobby though.

Here is a picture of my gpu usage on minecraft:

(it's at 100% while I have the game open, and then I minimize the game and the gpu usage drops to 20%, than I go back into the game and than finally close the game)

 

I've tried updating my drivers, reinstalling the games, changing my screen Hz, changing screen resolution, closing msi afterburner...

 

Edit: ok so the flickering doesn't happen only when the gpu usage is at 100%, it happens when the gpu usage is like above 90%

What're your temps like when you're at 90-100% GPU?

If your temps are too high, you could be throttling and that causes stuttering.

my temps sit around 60-70 C basically the whole time

try some logging while in game and see if anything stands out?

ok so today it's working like normal again??
Not sure why I didn't really do anything new or anything.

Gpu usage is normal now, same with game fps and no more flickering
