I have an Inland Professional 1TB NVMe SSD that used to be inside my system (on a PCIE card).  My new GPU is too fat so I had to take the card out, I then put the NVMe drive into and external USB-C enclosure (ASUS ROG STRIX AXION).  The drive shows up and I can see the file structure.  However, when trying to update games on the drive or even run crystal disk mark, the drive utilization shoots to 100% but reports 0 KB/s read and write as well as 0 ms response time.  No progress is made in file transfer either.  Any idea on why this would happen externally, but worked fine for months internally?

Thanks!

Try it internally again, if it works there the enclosure has some kind of issue.

So I put the SSD back inside and it works completely fine.  However, I also put a different NVMe drive in the external enclosure and that also works completely fine...

Then it's just the combination of the 2 that doesn't work... sucks but happens. I actually have an SSD I've tried in 3 different enclosures and it only works in one of them, while those other enclosures work fine with other SSDs. It's a weird noname SSD causing the issues in my case.

Alright, imma throw one more curveball in.  When using a USB C 2.0 cable, the external drive works like its supposed to.  Switched back to the 3.(whatever the hell the naming is now) cable and the "stuck" behavior came back.  I think I'm in the twilight zone.
