whatsapp Whatsapp failed history when moving from Samsung S10 to S21 using local backup

Good day

 

Looking to move Android WhatsApp from S10 to a S21  without using the Google Drive backup option

 

My internet is slow and Backup is about 5 gig  (and I'd rather not give google direct access to my chats.. If they want the info, then let them copy the data themselves:-)

Within Whatsapp, there's a option to backup locally (stored in ./Whatsapp/Database) which creates a dated backup file which I should be able to plunk into the same folder on the new phone

 

But when I install Whatsapp and copy the backup, 99% of the chat history is not Present  (there are 2 messages  I created  which show up; but from a long time ago).

 

Has anyone had any success with moving Whatsapp between phones without using Google Drive and if so, any thoughts or steps to get it working?
