keyboard not working.

so recently when i tried to plug in my keyboard to my laptop it didn't start. I had the notification sound of connecting a device into my laptop but my keyboard wasn't working neither the keys nor the lights were working. It was fine the day before i was using it before shutting down my laptop simply unplugged my keyboard nothing else. I didn't do any windows update as well. The next day when i plug it in its not working for no reason at all. I don't know why it's not working now.

Have you tried plugging the keyboard into a different port? How about plugging a different device (such as a flash drive) into the port to see if the port is defective?

i doubt it's a defective usb port since the laptop detected a device

also try the keyboard on another machine, if it doesn't work it's dead
