New PC won't boot/post

Go to solution Solved by HeroRareheart,

I only have 2 possible additional troubleshooting steps. Unplug all drives and everything not necessary and see if you can get into the BIOS. Try a different GPU or PCIe slot for the GPU just to see if that makes a difference, and try a different processor. I understand that my advice is somewhat basic and it's possible you don't have a spare GPU just kicking about somewhere.

Hello I'm a first time builder and having watched a lot, I mean a LOT of videos for reference I thought for sure my first build was going to go without any problem. And well, I personally thought everything went great but sadly my system won't boot up no matter what I do/try. Every time I try to turn it on the CPU debug LED flashes once and the system shuts down.

I will go through the steps I went through to troubleshoot it on my own.

I've tried backtracking and removed the cooler and tried to see if any of my pins were bent/if I seated it correctly. Everything was fine.

I've checked to see if the RAM was the problem, but well I tested them in my brother's system and they were fine.

Every cable is connected correctly to the motherboard, yes I did hear the click it does when it's inserted correctly.

Friend of mine recommended I update/flash the bios to see if that fixes it, so I removed the processor and flashed it. To my surprise the case fans and PSU fan powered on and it flashed without any real issues (Was starting to think it was the PSU that was DOA). So I thought to myself, hey nice maybe that was the issue and maybe that'll fix it. Nope, that didn't fix it, I still had the same issue after putting the CPU and its cooler back on.

Same friend recommended I cleared my CMOS, did that, still the same.

I am kind of at my wit's end, I've been at this for the past 7 hours. I was really excited to finally have an actual computer after using a 12 year old laptop for a long while, sadly here we are. I've ordered all my parts from Amazon, since prices here in Mauritius are quite messed up, and by that I mean really messed up. So I can't really get replacements any time soon, I'd need to mail back my parts and stuff and that process takes a long ass while. So as you can guess I'm really hoping there's a way for me to fix this myself.

SPECS:
MSI B550-A
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z (3600mhz)
ASUS ROG Strix GTX 970 (Yes, I know but I had to do with what I had on hand.)

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Thanks for the fast reply, thankfully I did have a spare graphics card on hand, a GT730 and that one got the system to post just fine. I may have gotten a little bit tunnel versioned on the CPU/Motherboard thing since the CPU debug LED was the one that was flashing before shutting it off.

Can't say I'm not upset about the GPU considering how hard it is to land on any of them currently but at least now I know what the issue was.

Ah also forgot to mention that the lights on the GPU were working fine so I thought for sure it was not the issue...

Well as has been my experience in life typically it's something simple that's gone wrong before it's something complicated. BTW you should mark this post as solved if you have not already.
