Ethernet Not working.

I have an old PC Having  Intel d945gccr motherboard.The yellow light is on before I turn on PC (even if there is no lan cable pluged in) but turns of as soon as system in booted,But I don't get the green led to work when I connect by lan cable and also it does not connect to the network, I have already checked the cable.The Ethernet chip is Intel 82562g,But in windows 7 the default driver is Intel pro 10/100 ve network connection. When I tried to install Intel 82562g driver I get code 10 error.I am confused.
