Why will my overclock not apply?

I have an 10700k and when I overclock it on intel xtu (6 core at 4.8Ghz and two cores at 5.0Ghz) it just sets all cores to 4.8Ghz. Anyone know why?

Many motherboards auto enable Turbo Enhancement (Multicore Enhancement in another name) and likely this is interrupting your manual settings.

Yes, but depending on the board maker, it could be called different things.

MCE - Multicore Enhancement on MSI/ASUS boards I think
Turbo Enhancement

Enhanced Turbo... and such.

Or your loads always exceed a couple cores of activation (even 1-2% loads across multiple apps on different cores at the time)
Are you sure it never goes to 5.0 at IDLE (Waiting even 5 mins for Windows to TRULY idle?)

I'd prefer to do the oc from the bios, it's a bit more stable.
And what's your vcore? Did you set it to manual or adaptive?

Whats your motherboard...make/model.

The manual has bios options and a descriptor..

Worth sussing the manual under the CPU or OC sections for the enhanced turbo function... reversible either way..
