Hi folks,

I finally decided to make a post on this forum and to ask about some advises because Mr. Linus always says "go on our forum we have great people there who can help"  ;)

If any of you have suggestions please, be my guest, with an explanation if possible so i can choose from if necessary.

1. Budget & Location

I'm trying to get good Price/Performance and I don't have a fixed budget but lets say 900-1100€(which comes under 1500$). All parts will be bought in Germany.

2. Aim

Usually for gaming.(Moba, mmorpg ,Strategy games eg. Civ 5, Rome Total War), Maybe ill try some streaming/recording but that's optional for me.

Colors for my build   : Black+Green or just black (opt. titanium) as you'll see from the parts.
3. Monitors
I wont be upgrading to 2/3 monitors nor higher res. then 1080p.
4. Peripherals
Not Needed : Mouse;Mousepad;Keyboard;Headphones;OS

5. Build
CPU:                   Intel Core i5-3570K, 4x 3.40GHz, boxed(184€ )

CPU Cooler:      Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (30€) optional
Motherboard:   ASRock Z77 Extreme6/TB4 (90-MXGMC0-A0UAYZ)  (115€)
Memory:            G.Skill Sniper R2 8GB, DDR3-1600,CL9 1.25v  (70€)
Storage:            Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 3TB, SATA 6Gb/s (ST3000DM001) (83€)
Video Card:       EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort (02G-P4-2678)  (110€)
SSD:                   Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB, 2.5", SATA 6Gb/s (70€)
Case:                 Fractal Design Define R4 Blackout (??)not yet available in Europe  or (Titanium) (92€)
Power Supply:  EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 750W ATX 2.3 (220-G2-0750-XR) (94€)
Monitor:            ASUS MX239H, 23" (220€)
(i own the GPU+Monitor already)
Total:  1068€

As im not in a hurry to buy it im looking for more options till the "judgement day".
Questions:
1. Will the next gen Intel processors come mid '14 and will they be cheap? should i wait?
2. Is the i5-4670k that much better?
3. AMD suggestion CPU+Mobo under 330€ please  :D

Use PCpartpicker.uk

Don't waste money on 1.25v RAM unless it's cheaper than 1.5v

Normally I would suggest a better GPU but that looks quite cheap

Comparable combo from red team would be an 83(2/5)0 + 990FXAUD3 or M5A99FX evo

Use 'Automatic' font color, because people with night theme read your post.

Error: 410

If you already own the GPU and Mointor I would suggested changing the CPU to i5 4670k and along with it the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard.

For your Question: the next gen will probably come around Q3 or Q4 this year, I dont know about the price but then if you already own the 4670k now I dont think you need to change it for the next 1-2 gen.

Comparison of 3570k vs 4670k you can look up on cpuboss.com, 4670k beat the 3570k by a fair share, and the price is only a tiny bit higher so there's no point not upgrading.

To be honest, I'd go with second hand parts if I'm going to buy last gen parts. But if you want to buy new, I'd buy newest gen parts.

At Ebay.de im almost every week and its ridiculous how high the prices are compared to new. I rather stick to new parts for 2yrs+ warranty

I recently bumped into that ram so i thought maybe it would be better for higher OC. I can choose 1600/1.25v 1600/1.5v 1866/1.5v same model, few €uro difference.

thanks for the tip.

Ty for the info. I'll have to check z87 price now.

Because you are not in a hurry to make a purchase, I strongly advise waiting for the new technology to come out.  Not only will the most powerful and new technology be available, but it should make the price of older components lower.

Here is a breakdown of how each component fits into your system:

Computer Building Template:

Processor:  This is one of the best gaming processors on the market, and you will not encounter any bottlenecks what-so-ever!  I really recommend this processor, I have one myself and love it.  It will last you for many, many years, and is a very strong gaming processor and excellent overclocker.

CPU Cooler:  The Hyper 212 EVO is an excellent value after market CPU cooler.  It performs exceptionally well for such an inexpensive part.  It will allow you to achieve very solid overclocks, and will be much more quiet than your stock CPU cooler provided by Intel.  Just make sure to buy a large enough case so it fits.  This is an optional component, but highly recommended.

Motherboard:  The motherboard doesn't impact performance.  The motherboard I have selected in this build is SLI capable, so if you decide to buy a 2nd GPU in the future, you can do that without having to worry about compatibility.  If you don't ever plan on doing SLI, then you can get an even less expensive motherboard, and save 15 more euros.

RAM:  There are two things I would like you to understand about RAM.  First is, How much RAM do you really need? 8GB is a nice starting point, especially for the games you want to pay.  If you want to save money, you could start off with 4GB, and add another 4GB later.  But I would recommend going with 8GB from the start.  The 2nd thing about RAM you need to understand is what speed of RAM do you need?  For gaming, you really won't notice a difference between speeds.  The sweet spot, and recommended amount is 8GB(4GBx2) of 1600Mhz, and CL 9-9-9-24 running at 1.5V   Brand of RAM does not matter.  The only thing different from brand to brand is: appearance, warranty, and heat dissipation.

Storage:  You are going to want to get an SSD and an HDD.  Your operating system will be installed on your SSD for extremely fast boot times to give you that "New Computer, Money Well Spent" feeling.  120GB gives you plenty of overhead to manage your C drive with your OS, and maybe 1-2 frequently played games.  Brand of SSD does matter, but where it matters is for transferring large files. Different SSDs come with different rated times, and those rated times are tested for large file transfers.  For day-to-day tasks, the performance between one premium brand and another bargain brand is going to be non-existant.  Go with the least expensive 120GB SSD you can find.  You will also want at least a 1TB HDD to store your media and the bulk of your games.  I have selected both for you in my build.

Video Card:  The video card is the most important component of your machine.  It should account for 40%-50% of your overall budget.  No component will have an impact on performance as much as your video card, which is why you want to spend as much as possible on this component.  I prefer Nvidia over AMD, this is my opinion, and this opinion is derived from looking at many different benchmarks, on many different cards, and many different price brackets.  Nvidia seems to win almost every time.  Yes, you can spend less money and go ATI, but I really urge you to go Nvidia.  Here is a really good benchmark comparison website.  I recommend the GTX780, it is one of the most powerful, and best value cards available today, and with your budget, it will easily fit in.  If you want to save a little bit, the next step down is the GTX770.  I wouldn't get anything less than a 770, because your budget allows for a very nice graphics card that will last you for many years to come.  Again, I advise to wait for the 800 series, hopefully coming out in the summer.

Power Supply:  Power Supply is a component that doesn't impact the performance of your machine, it just powers it.  It is not a good idea to skimp out on your power supply, but it is not beneficial to spend more than you have to either. You want to get the least expensive 550W-600W PSU that is from a reputable brand and is at least 80+ Bronze certified for your particular build.

Case:  Your case is another aspect of your computer that doesn't have an impact on performance.  I often urge people on a budget to get the least expensive, yet visually appealing case they can find because that money can be better utilized on components that affect in-game performance.  In the build I created, the Hyper 212 EVO is a very large heatsink, so you will need a case with a width of at least 200mm for a nice fit.  Anything smaller, and you will have a hard time closing your side panel.  I know this from experience.

Optical Drive:  Just get the least expensive one you can find.  Usually about $15, maybe you could find one for $10 on ebay, I haven't looked.

Monitor:  This is a preference thing.  IPS panels are very nice, but more expensive.  I picked out the least expensive one I saw, but I will leave this purchase up to you.

Well for the color scheme it's preference matter so I will leave it up to you. Just remember this: if you do plan to overclock, go with the 4670k and a Z87 motherboard since it can support overclock, but if you dont then go with the i5 4670, and a cheaper motherboard that dont support motherboard.
