Does it not have to be PCIe 4.0? I was reading someone else that newer cards have to use a cable that is 4.0.

It does not provided you set 3.0 mode in the bios first.

The cables your after do exist:

ask them where to buy, not sure if the long ones are in stock.

DO NOT DAISY CHAIN.

I'm trying to wall mount my PC (3080 GPU in this instance) and I've heard I should be using a PCIe 4.0 riser cable. Problem is I need about 40cm minimum to clear the mobo and the height of the GPU in order to come up and plug into the bottom of it. All I've found at 25 or maybe 30cm risers so that means I will need to chain 2 together.

I've also got a 4x M.2 PCIe card with 1 M.2 drive in it. I don't know if I will fill all 4 slots anytime soon, but It would need the same treatment (I would just have it upside down to save a few inches of cable length.

So I suppose my real question is, will PCIe 4.0 riser cables come down in price or be made longer anytime soon? Looks like just for these 2 items it may cost me almost $400 in cables.
