Antimalware Service Executable

Go to solution Solved by ruben.brandsma,

If you see the Antimalware Service Executable process using a large amount of CPU or disk resources, it’s likely scanning your computer for malware. Like other antivirus tools, Windows Defender performs regular background scans of the files on your computer.

It also scans files when you open them, and regularly installs updates with information about new malware. This CPU usage could also indicate that it’s installing an update, or that you just opened a particularly large file Windows Defender needs some extra time to analyze.

Windows Defender generally performs background scans only when your computer is idle and isn’t being used. However, it may still use CPU resources performing updates or scanning files as you open them, even while you use your computer. But the background scans shouldn’t run while you’re using your PC.

This is all normal with any antivirus program, all of which need to use some system resources to check your PC and keep you protected.

Sooo, my Pc has randomly had CPU usage spikes, and if i opened the Task-Manager, it told me Antimalware Service Executable was sucking almost 30% of my CPU. Then every time as soon as i open the Task-Manager the Antimalware Service goes into "Low Power Mode" it doesnt show that it went into low power mode but it stops using as much CPU when i open The Task-Manager, then i close the Task-Manager and after like a minute it starts using as much CPU as before. I tried killing the task, although im The administrator it says "Access denied". And Windows Security doesn't show any problem that there is a virus on my computer or anything. Can someone please help?

Correct, you can try to change your power plan in Windows or check your Windows Defender settings to make sure this won't happen again.

That is why i use a de-bloated version of Windows. I'am using the Ghostspectre version. You can look it up on YT.
