Let me preface this as to why I need this in the first place.  I get chronic migraines behind me eyes and I use a cold mask to help with the heat/pain; problem is, getting up with a migraine is a royal pain.

My idea was to get a mini fridge ( https://www.amazon.com/Coca-Cola-KWC-4C-Personal-Cooler-Fridge/dp/B07YYXXJ5B/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=cola+mini+fridge&qid=1619275031&sr=8-1 ).  Whilst it kinda worked, there were 2 issues: the fan was WAY to whiny and the cooling wasn't AS cold (32°F/0°C) as I'd like (just colder, I want my eyes WAY colder if possible).

I swapped out the 80mm fan with an 80mm noctua fan ( https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Bearing-Cooling-NF-R8-redux-1200/dp/B00KF7T9MI/ref=sr_1_7?crid=XD9GH9H2HUEI&dchild=1&keywords=80mm+noctua+fan&qid=1619275315&sprefix=80mm+noctua%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-7 ).  It seems like it lost a little cooling, but I can actually run it next to my head now without being bothered by it.  I also swapped out the thermal paste with a higher quality paste.  (I should say that the peltier thats currently on it, is 2cmX2cm.  the "cold"(?) sink that it currently has can fit a 4cmX4cm if that would make a difference.)

Does anyone know what I can change to get this colder?  Honestly I would take it any colder I can.

Have you talked to a doctor? While cold may alleviate some pain, cooling your eyes and blood around your head (and especially near your brain) to freezing or below temperatures is unlikely to be healthy. Of course your blood won't be freezing quickly, but even cooling it down too far from our required ~37 C isn't good for you.

As for the fridge, it's a mini fridge designed to keep you coke cold and 0 C is plenty cold for a soda. The mechanism likely just isn't built/powerful enough to cool below that.

I have talked to my doctor about this, this headache pad doesn't actually freeze, its silicon beads.  My question still isn't answered, is there any upgrades that I can add to make it cooler.  I know that I would have to change some parts out and that's what I'm willing to do, I just need some guidance.

Honestly I couldn't care less about the pad freezing, I was more worried about your eyeballs freezing or cooling the blood in your head too far below body temperature. If the doctor says it's fine then I believe them though.

The specs of it say it's capable of cooling to 18 C below ambient. That basically means two options:

  1. Get a beefier cooler, capable of going below ambient more than this one
  2. If it is capable of sub-zero cooling, get your room down to 18 C or lower so that it has a fighting chance of going sub-zero.

so it currently has a 2cm peltier and its "cold" sink has room for 4cm, does it matter which 4cm one I buy? or do they all work relatively the same?
