Usb socket noise

So I had my electrics done a couple of years ago and I've just noticed a new sound coming from my double USB plug socket even though nothing is plugged into it. It's only started recently so it hasn't always been like this. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be and if it is safe? I heard someone mention coil whine but I'm not sure since it's only just started?

Please explain what you are referring to. Are you talking about wall socket or your PC input connectors? And is this something you here directly from the ports or through some speaker?
