Hey,

I'm having some difficulty deciding what GPU to use in what build so I'm here asking for some advice, I have a GTX 970, GTX 780 and a GTX 580 and I'm not sure what the best option would be.

1. HP Z400 Xeon E3565, 475w,

2. i7 4790k, 650w

3. i7 6600, 500w

The 580 requires 2x 8pin and the HP only has a 6pin and 2 molex so I put the 780 there with 2 molex to 8pin adapter and I thought 475w would be bit low but seems to be able to handle it well after some stresstest. Should I just put the 580 with the 650w PSU since it already has 2x8pin together with the 4790k and go with either 970/780 on the other two since they're pretty much similar in performance to my knowledge?

Lower TDP on 970 than 780 I guess but 475w vs 500w, does it even make a difference?

Also worth mentioning that these are not builds that would be used very often.

Irrelevant to the topic but figured I'd ask nontheless, I have a i7 920 that I usually OC to 3.6, how does this compare to the 3565 when OC'd? I just seem to be able to find stock vs stock results, I don't have any PSU for it though and I'm pretty sure I can't use the HP Z400 one.

Thanks

My realistic fitting would be:

1. GTX 970 (lowest TDP out of all, thus lower stress to the adapter overall)

2. GTX 580 (Biggest PSU on a highest TDP card, and as ya say, dedicated power plugs)
3. GTX 780 (Performs as close as the 970)

But imho i would go for GTX 970 in the 4790k, 780 on the 6600, and then wait till you can get a more capable PSU.
