I think I'd test Plasti Dip for masking off areas you don't want plated.  First I'd test if Plasti Dip itself dissolves in the plating bath.  If it doesn't then it could be a good choice for masking off surfaces of your cooling component you don't want plated because it peels nicely when you're done...  That's the theory anyway.
