Headset problem???

So basically, I have this headset called the onn. gaming headset. It has a detachable mic for 3.5mm TRS. Recently, the mic head broke and I'm wonder what replacement attachable mic I can use because, the sleeve for the audio jack to attach the mic has this square that is also inside of the place the audio jack would go so whenever I put a normal audio jack which is usually round, it has a click sound but isn't as sturdy as the one that came with it when I plugged it in. Basically, I'm not totally sure if a normal audio jack would work, and am trying to see if there is a replacement attachable mic or if I have to buy a new headset entirely.
