Logitech G35 problem

So my logitech g35's aren't picked up as the default audio device upon initial startup of windows and I have to go into the sound device and disable the headset then enable it and that seems to work most of time. Sometimes they just don't work and I have to try a new usb port. I have tried using usb 2 and 3 doesn't help. I will update my usb drivers later and the logitech software.

Any other suggestions for potential fixes?

Same thing happens to me with my G430, I got used to it

I guess it is not coz of your headphone. It is coz of Windows 8 driver problems. For me Whenever I restart my pc, my headphone will not work. I have to go to my device manager uninstall the driver then scan it to install, then my headphone will work.
