Desktop pic crashes

On Ubuntu 20.04, changing the desktop pic freezes the system. What can I do? (Phenom x4 cpu, 4gb ram, onboard graphics) I suspect the gpu as the problem.

Which driver are you using for the GPU?

just the default one. I’ve figured the problem out, it fills the vram changing the pic and it crashes. I’ll stick an older gpu I have lying around in the system that is more powerful. (The integrated is a GeForce 8300, I'll put an r5 240 in it)
