I'm looking to throw a bit of white light into my evga hadron. I have looked at the bitfenix alchemy led strips and they are way to bright for what i want, I dont need a ton of light cast into the machine, just enough to give a light glow.  I'm looking for white lighting to be powered off a molex. Any ideas.

NZXT White LED Strip

Cheap, easy to install, uses a standard 4 pin power, the power module hides in a PCI lane, it's black so it also blends in nicely.

Oh, and it has a 3 setting dim switch with a power button. If you want dim, I would go with this brand and get that product which is linked.

This video is in BLUE, but the white LED video didn't demonstrate it in the dark. So yeah. Gives you an idea.

would be perfect if I had an extra pci bracket to work with, my 780 in the hadron uses both.

Ahhh, Hadron. Yeah, that's super small. You could try to mount it somewhere else if you were willing to. lol, or just leave the switch controller in the bottom of the case or tuck it somewhere.

It's pretty small:

Though W-L's idea is fantastic. 3 pin which can be controller by a fan controller would be absolutely epic.

Honestly there isn't much room for anything, a 50cm strip of dim leds powered off molex is absolutely ideal, but I can't find anything, I have room for about 6 inches on the bottom and would run the rest up the side if it was flexable, I may just have to go with bright leds in a small strip to power them off of the molex that i have available, I'm limited to connections as everything including the fan headers are already being used.

What CPU cooler are you using currently?

And as another idea... An alternate usage of W-Ls' idea.

There's space for 2 120mm fans on top. Put white LED fans up there and let them run off the mobo with 3 pins? Some motherboards have software that will let you control the fan speeds, so if you set them to low, the fans will receive much less voltage making them shine much dimmer. An added bonus is when the computer is running hot (E.G. when gaming) it will automatically add more voltage making the fans shine brighter. A kind of visual reference that your computer is kicking arse?

If you have a CPU cooler that lets you use 120mm fans, plug in some White LED fans. This will have the same exact effect except the brightness will be dependent on how hard your CPU is working in theory.

The evga mitx cooler, It's a 92mm fan. I have it blowing towards the back. I went for cooling performance and got AF120 performance fans for the top, I sort of regret not going 120 quiet white led fans and having those slightly illuminate the case. however I am more worried about temps on my 4770k and 780 in that box than the looks.

In that case, W-L's idea is likely the best. A standard 3pin LED strip, and let the motherboard control the brightness by sending it voltage. If your motherboard has the software for it, you can directly control that easily.

I think your choices are either that.

Ffind a space for the NZXT mount, or just dismantle the mount and keep the PCB.

Tint your Hadron window so it appears darker.

led lights with a tinted side panel would probably be perfect. I'm gonna get ahold of my buddy who does professional tinting and see how possible this is.

They do have smaller strips at 5.5in and 7.75in if necessary, and just a side note the voltage of the LED strips need a minimum starting voltage of 6V with a max of 12V.

Yeah. A 30% or less tint would be bawse. Since the case is black, it'll flow nicely. If you mess up the window, the Hadron window can be reasily replaced also since it's just pinned down. Any hardware store will sell acrylic for fairly cheap, and it's very easy to cut yourself. You can experiment a lot with it since it's so easy to reinstall.

Anyways.

Hopefully that works for you.

Regards.

W-Ls' idea is also pretty good. I think either way would give you what you want, but his also will let you have a very clear image of your internals if you don't have the lights on.
