Okay so I have an i7 4770K and I overclocked it to 4.3ghz and switched the voltage to 1.5v in the MB . I have a H100i cooler and I'm not sure if it's just me or did the cooler get louder? Is it normal for the cooler to get louder than when its at stock speed?

note the only thing i changed was the GhZ to 4.3 and the volts was I supposed to change anything else I'm not sure if I overclocked correctly

Do you have Corsair Link installed? I haven't played with it without Link being installed, but when the CPU is running at a higher temperature than normal, which it is due to your overclock, it will automatically ramp up the speed of the fans to cool it down. Corsair's Stock Profile just takes heat into account. You have to make a custom profile if you want it to act the same after an overclock. You can use Corsair Link to manually set the speeds to increase X percentage at Y temperatures. Or even just run it with a default fan speed.

Another thing to remember is that the Corsair H100i SP fans can go up to an insanely high RPM and are not utilized to be quiet. You can tell audible differences between 800 - 1000 RPM, 1001 - 1350 RPM, and 1400 - ... I think it's 2000 RPM. Anyways, those fans can go up a ridiculous amount to cool off your CPU, but they are not utilized to be quiet.

Just mess with the profiles like Sav1our stated. Try quiet mode, if you want. Though with an overclock it'll get pretty warm under load.

1. Okay is the Cooler wearing out then since it's working more?

2. Also this is aside from this posts main question but how do I know if I overclocked it correctly (setting wise). I stress tested it with prime95 and also Intel burn test and I got stable results. I used HWMonitor and stayed at around 44 average temps on the 4 cores. I'm just a little paranoid I may not have set a setting correctly (even though I'm getting better performance) and maybe causing severe damage.

Your problem is probably the fact you're using 1.5 Volts.

But yes, when you overclock your fans will have to turn up because there's more heat being generated by the CPU.

4.3 ghz should only need.. 1.2-1.325 Volts.

Hm okay. Also, I've seen videos where people change the RAM or something from auto to like 1333. Would this affect anything? Atm I'm just changing the volt and the GhZ.

You can leave the ram at 1600 mhz if that's what you have, just adjust the voltage to 1.25 volts on your CPU, and re-test at 4.3 GHZ.

Yeah, I didn't even see that you were using 1.5 volts on an intel chip. That's super high voltage. Your CPU is getting incredibly warm so the fans are picking up speed to keep it cool. It's automatic.

But changing RAM to the suggest speed should not do anything bad as long as you gave it the proper voltage, likely 1.35 1.5 or 1.65 as it says on the actual stick, and set all the times appropriately. Specially because your ram speed is likely suppose to be at 1333? It won't cause your CPU to overheat.

I just set my GhZ to 4.3 and Voltage to 1.380 I stress tested with intel burn test and got a stable result. Are these temps normal?

Yeah those are good, try 4.5 ghz without changing the voltage.

Okay I fixed my computer. What would you recommend me not to go over for the Volts.

Anything above 1.4v can be bad for 24/7 use, and I would say everything above 1.45-1.5 will damage your cpu quickly
