This doesn’t make sense to me.  A clone would be a clone.  Everything on the drive would be copied.  If it wasn’t it wouldn’t be a clone.  I’ve heard of people doing that.  There is apparently pay software that can do it, which generally means there is or soon will be free software that does it but isn’t as user friendly and may have missing features.  I don’t know of one off hand myself.  It’s something I haven’t had to do.  I myself am content to do reinstalls, and I don’t have any software that can’t have that done to it.  I also don’t have photographs or music I care about on my desktop though.  I don’t know why a clone wouldn’t be just as viable long term as the drive it was cloned to.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I dont want to spend hours cloning a qlc drive to find out something is missing or went wrong, Ive got slow internet reinstalling windows and redownloading everything will take forever

Many m.2s have free cloning software.

Check the manufacturers web site.

It's an exact copy and will be as "reliable" as the original.

thanks
