CPU fan error on startup

Hi There!

I recently installed six LL120 Corsair RGB fans and placed one on my CPU heatsink. I have since received CPU fan errors on startup by my BIOS. I have tried swapping the CPU fan with another corsair fan, but this does not solve the issue.

Following these directions, I tried changing the lower limit, setting it to ignore the CPU fan limit, and updated my BIOS. This does not seem to be a functional issue, as the fan spins and my temperatures are within normal boundaries for idle. However, the BIOS seems boot in to error detection mode on every startup to notify me of the fan error. It's quite annoying.

 

My Rig:

GD30CI base: Mobo, case, etc..

I7-7700 w/ CoolerMaster 120mm heatsink

2 SATA HDD's and one  SATA SSD for OS

GTX 1070 founders edition

32GB ddr4

850w Corsair psu gold

6 corsair 120mm white RGB fans

Blu-ray Drive

BIOS Version/Date    American Megatrends Inc. 0911, 3/20/2018

Do you have a fan connected to your CPU_FAN header?
If not, that's the cause of the error - if there's no fan on there, it will beep at you.

The CPU fan is installed on the CPU_FAN header

I accidentally hooked up my CPU fan to the CPU_OPT header, and it beeped at me.

Definitely CPU_FAN. I had just replaced it with a CoolerMaster fan and put it back in the same slot. It functions fine after startup. On startup the fan spins much less (or not at all...) than chassis fans. I could put back the coolermaster fan and it would work fine, but it would collide with my RGB corsair style.
