Lightning connector differences

Hey guys,

 

looking into putting my own cable on a lightning connector... since you can't buy them (except from aliexpress) I was looking into using old lightning cables to get the connector. The end cable should be lightning to female usb. Now I tried that and the cable looks to work like the normal charging cable also for data transfer (tested with a small male to male connector and connected to my pc) but it does not have the desired functionality like apples lightning to female usb (camera connector)

do you guys know if there is a difference in the chips used in the connectors? or any other tipps?

Apple has some extra chips in the camera connector, there are some adapters available on aliexpress but they have mixed results
