X570 bios flashing issues

I got a mpg x570 gaming plus motherboard and a 5800x ryzen cpu a bit ago. I tried setting them up yesterday and attempted to update the bios of the motherboard to make the 2 comparable. I have tried several different bios versions including the oldest version MSI offers and multiple different flash drives, even going and getting a new 16gb flash drives earlier today. With the new drives, when I hit the bios flash button, the flash drive led blinks for a few seconds, then turns off. Nothing seems to suggest that any bios update has worked and the system won’t turn on to any extent.
