VR and ubuntu?

Is it possible to play VR with an Ocolus rift S on Ubuntu?

I know, that for games i can use proton etc... but ocolus has it own software and i wasnt able to find a software downloade for linux...

 

Any Ideas?

Doesnt Ocolus need the ocoulus app to work? bevore steam vr

Yep it does. Basically Oculus has zero support on linux, wrong headset brand to get if you intend to game on linux.

ok... so my gaming pc will be running windows for the next time...

I have successfully installed Oculus Rift on Linux Mint 20.3 using https://github.com/ChristophHaag/SteamVR-OpenHMD . The only problems I ran into while installing OpenHMD was the beginning file paths, for me at least, were wrong and you need libopenvr-dev.

using any oculus product on linux is basically not a thing. the closest you can get is with the rift cv1 with openhmd, which is still very much unfinished. afaik, the rift s is still basically unusable.
