Display with different resolution

Hi everyone, I'm new around here.

I have a 1366x768 resolution laptop, and it sure isn't enough, and I'm trying to get a secondary monitor attached to the laptop. And I'm having trouble whether to get a 1080p monitor or get something smaller like 1600x900 since my primary display isn't all that big.

Will getting something so different affect my display somehow ? Like getting a window distorted while pulling it to the secondary monitor, or something along the line.

Also, this is my first time setting up dual-monitor for my system, so I really want to make it a good one.

Thanks.

No you won't have any problems  mate, the 2nd screen might come on straight away, or you might have to able it via screen resolution from the desktop right click, once in there it is straight forward enough, just click what you want the screens to do, either duplicate your main screen, expand the  desktop over both screens giving you one large are, or have 1 and 2 as a seperate screen. if your 2nd monitor defaults to the laptops resolution just change it to whatever the res should be of your new one.
