6700XT VRAM getting toasty at 103C

Just installed my 6700xt and started mining eth and the vram is hitting 103C I've never seen vram run that hot before

This is common actually. its why most mines undervolt there cards to find that sweet spot for hash rate to performance.

whats a safe temp to target

go you have GPU-Z?

it can show you info about your VRAM, e.g. brand.

for example, Micron rate their VRAM at 100c TJmax

with spec operating temps of 0-95c.

so it's fair to say that your VRAM is running hotter than desirable.

my suggestion is to tinker with power target/clocks until you see a max of ~90c on VRAM

naturally, you'll wanna bench eth to see your 'roi'.

also, i would consider VRAM temp readout to be +/- 10c from actual, so you should consider your upper limit to be 90c. (to prevent hotspots from exceeding TJmax.

parts wear exponentially with higher temp, so your first small decrease will have the greatest benefit, with diminishing returns beyond that
