Budget (including currency): $1500-$1800 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily for gaming. Rust, Vermintide 2, Cyberpunk 2077.

Other details: Starting totally fresh. Plan on using one 2k 144hz monitor at the moment, may add another one later on. Would like to run games at 2k 120+ fps. I will need perifrials for the build, but the budget is just for the PC itself.

Current list:

I have no experience picking out parts or building a PC. I was going to wait for parts to become more reasonably priced, just wanted to get feed back on the build.  Thanks everyone!

intel's 11th gen is out and it's not much more expensive and might be compatible with most z490 motherboards. The 11th gen i5 has gotten a ton of praise since it's single core is above the cut for what people expected so it might not be too bad.

You could get a z590 board to go with the newer CPU, but it's not necessary. If you get unlucky with an older z490 board that doesn't have the new bios, you should be able to get it upgraded at most computer repairs stores for cheap. Some don't even need the CPU for a bios upgrade, just using a USB stick.

Get a more powerful power supply, the new GPUs use a ton of power, most people would recommend a 750w at minimum, but I'd go even higher because of short power spikes that can trip cheaper models.
