I'm looking at upgrading to 2Gb fiber connection for my home.
i have custom built pc with 2.5Gb network connection on Motherboard. so i want to maximize my connection and internal network to be able to support 10Mb to 2.5Gb. I have several wireless devices but that will be dealt with seperately. currently i have my fiber modem in living room and run wired to a 4prt switch at my desk where i currently run 3 pc's and a security camera box all from.

so i'm basically looking for a 2Gb modem w/wifi and a 4 or more port switch/hub.  but i need to communicate with 2.5Gb availability. do you have any recommendations?

Fiber connections from the ISP usually terminate at the home in an internet gateway, which acts like a modem and router combo device. Sometimes, they terminate in a media converter with only 1 ethernet port, in which case you need to supply your own router. Which do you have? Providing us with the make/model of the ISP device would be helpful.

Does the ISP device have other ethernet ports? If so, what speed are they rated for?

Can you list the make/model of all of the network hardware that you have and the type of ethernet cable you’re using?

Have a look at the Netgear RAX120. Has a 5gbe port that can be used for WAN or LAN. Unfortunately all the other ports are regular gigabit. But it would allow you to at least share the WAN connection between the multiple devices with the caveat of no single device being able to get the full speed.

When you get above gigabit connections, can become expensive to make sure all parts of the network can keep up.
