So I recently had to do a fresh install of windows on my desktop because it was freezing. I updated all drivers under the device manager, checked the motherboard website for up to date drivers, and have been troubleshooting the mic for about an hour. I haven't messed with any internals on the pc, and the case mic jack worked before I installed new windows however once installed I can only get the mic by plugging it into the motherboard. Does anybody have any idea why this would happen?

Have you messed with the control panel? And also I have the same issue sometimes It works sometimes it doesn’t how I fixed the issue is just plug the mic up to the motherboard directly on the back.

Could you elaborate on "messed with"? I went into the control panel and was looking at controls and nothing was related to my issue

Click on..... hardware and sound

I then clicked on manage audio devices and I go to input devices and see a microphone input pegged at 100%. When I swap to said microphone in discord or the windows settings it just plays static.

R you using a voice mod or something like that  because discord is glitchy with voice mod and does it work with any thing else
