Hey guys.  With boost on my laptop caps at a little over 4ghz.  Then it throttles during game play so I use Throttlestop.

The only option that works for me is turning off turbo boost.  When turbo is off, the ceiling hits at 2.2ghz.  However it still dips down sometimes to 1.4ghz and as low as 800mhz.  When it does dip lower than 2.2ghz, I look at the temperature and it's in the mid 60s.  To me that's not that hot and I've played at times when it's in the high 70s and it didn't throttle.

Is there any way for me to set the clock at a solid and stable 3ghz?  I don't want it to fluctuate.  It's ridiculous how it throttles to 1.4ghz and the temperature is still low.  Can someone who knows Throttlestop please show me the proper settings?

Some 8th Gen Dell laptops have some severe throttling problems. They are setting the turbo power limits to an absurdly low value. This can force a CPU to 800 MHz for long periods of time, There is no easy fix for some of these issues. What laptop model do you have?

In the FIVR window check the Disable and Lock Turbo Power Limits box.

Post a screenshot of the main window and the TPL window so I can see how you have ThrottleStop setup. Check the Log File option on the main screen and go play a game for at least 15 minutes. Make sure that your testing includes some of these throttling episodes that you are talking about. When finished testing, exit your game and then exit ThrottleStop so it can finalize your log file. You can find the log in your ThrottleStop / Logs folder. It will have today's date in its name. Attach a log file to your next post or copy and paste the data to http://www.pastebin.com and post a link here.

A lot of throttling in laptops is because the turbo power limits are not set correctly. Everyone assumes that throttling is temperature related when it rarely is.

I definitely know a thing or two about ThrottleStop. Post some more info and I will help you out. No more Task Manager screenshots. The Utilization data reported in the Performance tab is not a great way to monitor an Intel mobile CPU.
