So I recently downloaded Battlefield 3, I finished Arkam Origins, which I loved and which I believe to be a more intensive game, and now, from time to time,  my Graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 780) suddenly decides to ramp up as much as possible. It sounds like a hairdryer! I downloaded MSI afterburner and set my own fan curve, for a while everything was going normal, I turned on Kombustor and a couple seconds after that the fans went crazy again, however in Afterburner the GPU temps were at 46 degrees Celsius and, more importantly, the fans speed was said to be at minimal RPM, probably even 0%! Can anyone help?

Keep afterburner running in the background.  I've noticed if I exit out of it the fan curve decides to turn itself off.
