New Build wont post

Go to solution Solved by Pipinpadaloxic,

it has fixed itself, after a whole day of trying different things i left it and ordered a MB speaker to get see if that would help, got the speaker today and plugged it in, turned the computer on and poof it works. i did not change anything from the last time i tried it (with the same borked problems)

(Mostly) Brand new computer.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MB: Gigabyte a520i AC
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

GPU: 980 TI (using old one because finding new cards is a pain right now)
PSU: Corsair CXM 550W
storage: WD m.2 500gb and an 8tb hdd
I know the PSU and the GPU work. they were pulled from another working computer. PSU is almost brand new, it was bought for this build but was a stand in for and old broken psu in older computer till all the new parts got in.

okay,
Finally got all the parts, put everything together. fans would come on, lights etc. but no bios.
turned it off, reseated everything, checked plugs, tried again and it turned on but was very slow (noticeable lag in the bios, and then later the windows installer) decided to try a restart.
on restart it went back to everything starting but no bios.
tried memory one at a time, could get bios when stick 1 was in channel B and A (not slow) but not when using Stick 2.

at this point I went into the windows install and ran a memory diagnostic, it said there was a memory error but i couldnt find how to get it to tell me what kind of error it was.
decided it was bad memory and returned for another set. (I still have both sets due to how amazon does returns)

tested new memory, no bios.
tried both sticks, no bios. but both sticks 3 and 4 worked by themselves in channel B and A. stick 1 worked and when retested stick 2 worked in channel B/A.

it never worked when trying to use both sticks in any pair.

now very confused I assumed it was the MB, sent MB back and got a new one (same model)
now it doesnt go to bios no matter what I do.
tested memory I took from another computer that i know works and still nothing (tho the memory i used is not listed as "supported")

would like to add that the power button worked to start/stop the machine before, now with the new MB it starts it but doesnt stop it.

some checking online found that the MB I bought doesnt support the specific memory (CMW32GX4M2Z3600C18) but I've installed unsupported (officially) memory in previous builds and it worked fine.
also if its because its unsupported then why did it work initially but very slow (was also recognized in the bios where I turned on the xmp with the slow bios) and then work later but with only 1 stick
if it was xmp new board should start up just fine.

is it the psu? even though it was working the day i took it from one computer and put it in another? or maybe theres just not enough power from the psu? but why work with only a single stick of ram and then now not at all.
or should i look to replace the cpu now?

or am i just super unlucky and got 2 borked MB's?

No, it got nothing to do with the PSU.

Try running the memory at lower clock speed like 3200mhz.

This is a memory compatibility issue with the motherboard.

Are you using any cable extensions? If so, my first guess is a faulty cable.

no i am not using cable extensions

i cannot enter bios (as original post states) so i cannot change clock speeds currently. the new MB is at factory defaults (assuming) and the memory should be around 23something, well below 3200mhz. also the memory ran at 3200+ but only with a single stick

As you can run it with a single stick, try memtest86 both modules separately (1 at a time).

Most probably you have incompatible memory chip, usually this will be solved in future bios.

I suggest return the memory kit, and change it to a "safer" speed like 3200 or below.

As my post stated i've already tried different (slower) memory and still the same problem.
also as i've stated the memory speeds are factory default, which is well below 3200.
also also as i've stated im no longer able to get to the bios/it will not post so im unable to run any sort of memory test. (lights/fans do still come on tho)
i have bought memory that i know is supported by the MB and hopefully that fixes it.

I bought Ripjaws V DDR4 3200 C16 2x16gb and installed those today
(purchased those based on UserBenchmark: Gigabyte GA-A520I AC Compatible Builds as they're systems that have been run/tested with the purchased ram on the MB)
Still does not work, same issue of starting but no post.
