Well, yes and no. If you are using the headset with "7.1", you connect it with USB and therefore its as its own device. And if you then have speakers connected to mobo, they are on another device. Are you looking to have same sound out from both at the same time? For this, you need to set one device to listen the other and use the one being listened as primary device.

 

If you don't need simultaneous, then switching default device between the two is fine. You can also setup virtual audio cable if you need something more complicated.
