is it still worth is to try and find someone to fix a broken printer? i have an hp 8610. i think it was less than $100 when i bought it 3 or 4 years ago at bestbuy. it had been working great until i decided to save some trees by using papers from the blue box, and i guess the paper wasn't exactly flat, and that broke the machine.

should i just go out get another one or try and find someone to fix it? i mostly used its scan function to make backup of paper documents. i rarely printed anything.

thanks.

nope toss it

When you get a new one at bestbuy , get a 5 year warranty. it's cheaper than buying a new printer years from now.

I get the 5 year warranties on these cheapo crap tv's they make these days and when the tv's inevitably dies I just go back and get a new one for free so it's worth it.

the max is 4 years for $29.99 at bestbuy right now. the printer itself is $89.99 , $120 for 4 years....... wooo, interesting gamble.....

if you like me print average 10 pages a year maybe and old printer still works as scaner staples is reasonable option.

no, that's the thing, it doesn't even start up now. it just stays at the error screen. i tried all the tricks from the web, soft rest, hard reset..... i think me using a piece of recycle paper broke its paper intake mechanism, or something.....

so het new cheap multi scanner printer and forget it only problem with these i had paint runs out quikly

ya, people have been telling me to get a black and white laser, because toner usually last longer than ink. but i don't know if i want to spend $200+ on a machine that i rarely use, other than scanning.

i think i got canon one for 30£ with wifi conectivity scanner copier functions. basicaly all you need. laser ones i think more useful for people constanly printing. for speed and price per printed page

that's about $55 canadian, good price. i don't think i'll get a laser, but ink drying up is a bit of concern, because i remember with my hp, i couldn't get it to do anything, even scan, when ONE ink cartridge was low. i had to get a new cartridge for magenta, in order to use the scanning function.

not sure about it but i dont think thats problem with canon. try to look aroud in forums maybe its mentioned somethere. i think i used mine for scanning with low ink cant be sure now.

or maybe it's just a problem with hp, oh well, now i just have to decide between a cheap cheap printer, or a bare minimum scanner.
