Hi, just got a new computer.

Omen

win 10 pro

i9-10850k@3.60

RTX 3090

64GB RAM- 16x4 DDR4 HyperX Fury

dual monitors

display1 - hp x27i 2560x1440 144Hz 4ms connected by hdmi

display2 - omen 25 display (24.5) 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms connected by DP

right now one monitor is running at 60hz and the other 59.9~hz, can i just change them both to 144hz? does the fact that both monitors are different resolutions matter, like will screen flickering occur? i heard that if u have one monitor that supported 144hz and another that didnt, u couldnt use both cus one would have screen tearing or something while playing games? also google tells me that hdmis can only support 144hz at a certain p., and i wasnt sure whether to use display port or hdmi or something else to connect, idk what cord gives the best graphics. can someone elaborate on how i can get the best graphics for gaming on one and on the other, the best resolution for photo editing.

now that the main course is out of the way onto the desert. 🙂

what things does everyone do on new computers, what are useful programs or games to download . feel free to offer as many suggestions as you'd like. thank you all for your time, have a good day!

You can change the refresh rates in the Advanced Display settings on Windows.

HDMI 1.4 up to 2.1 will be enough for 144Hz.

I suggest using a HDMI 1.4 cable for your 1920x1080 144Hz monitor, and a HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 cable for your 1440p monitor.

DisplayPort 2.0 beats HDMI 2.1. I would suggest going for DisplayPort if you can find the necessary cables for your monitors.

My dad suggests that people who have fresh installs or brand new laptops/PCs to go to Ninite and install the stuff they wish to install. From Chrome , to Discord, to MalwareBytes, etc.

This, in my opinion, depends entirely on your preferences of games. Open-world? RPG? First person shooter? I play Overwatch, Rocket League, Hitman 2, etc. I got Overwatch for my birthday, and I've been playing it to this day. I play Rocket League because my brother brought me into the game, and I play Hitman cause my dad likes to play it, and soon enough I liked playing it.
