So I recently purchased an asus a8n-e motherboard with an amd Athlon 64 3700+ cpu pre installed for very cheap. I have a 1080ti plugged in for graphics and I’m using an older 500 Gb hdd to try and boot it. First I tried to install windows 10 64 bit through my windows usb stick, but that didn’t work for some reason. So I installed windows in a separate rig onto the hdd I wanted and I still can’t get past bios pages. Whenever I try and boot from my windows installed hdd (tested on other rig, is working) I get a page like the image I posted. When I try and boot from the usb windows repair stick, I get past that screen to a windows logo for .2 seconds, then I get stuck on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left. When I try an boot from my main rig ssd (windows 10 64 but) that I have used for years, i get an error message saying “DISK BOOT FAILURE - INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER”. I could really use some help here, I just want to run an install of windows 10 64 bit to run some pascal graphics cards. I’m now questioning if the motherboard/cpu combo can even run a 64 bit windows 10 install. Help would be greatly appreciated, because at this point in time, I am stuck.

Windows 10 has a very low chance of working, and would run like crap.

Install Windows XP, Vista with SP2, or 7.

Would I have a chance with Linux? I don’t know much about the OS but I could figure it out.

You could try Linux, but I don't have much experience with Linux pre-Sandy Bridge.

Also, noticed that you were trying USB boot.

Booting from USB is relatively new - you booted recovery media on hardware from this era off of CDs and DVDs.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.
